How this calculator works

For transfers on or after 23 July 2024, long-term capital gains are generally taxed at 12.5% without indexation, while short-term gains are generally taxed at applicable slab rates. Special grandfathering can apply to resident individuals/HUFs for certain land/buildings acquired before 23 July 2024. This planner intentionally does not claim Section 54/54F/54EC exemptions.

Why this page is India-specific

This calculator was added only after checking the existing calculator database for duplicate intent. It covers an India-specific rule or employment/tax concept rather than duplicating a generic calculator.
